Is AI a Scrabble Word?

I want to know is AI a Scrabble word and whether it is accepted in official Scrabble dictionaries. Can AI be legally played in tournaments, or does it depend on the version of the game being used?

Yep, AI is indeed a Scrabble word! According to both the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary (OSPD) and SOWPODS (international), it’s listed as a valid two-letter word. You can absolutely play it in tournaments. Just remember, like all two-letter words, it’s most useful for connecting tiles in tight spots.

From a rules perspective, two-letter words like AI are always legal if they appear in the official dictionary your tournament uses. SOWPODS covers international play, OSPD covers North America. So yes, tournament legality depends on which dictionary the event is using. Check before you play.

Honestly, I’d love if AI weren’t a Scrabble word — feels like it’s already taking over the world, now it wants my triple word score too. But yep, it’s fair game. Beware though, the computer might start coaching you on your word placement next.

Oh sure, AI counts. Because nothing says “classic board game” like letting artificial intelligence sneak onto your Scrabble board. Next, we’ll have robots playing against humans for the championship.

I’ve played competitive Scrabble for years. AI is a valid Scrabble word and it’s worth 2 points. Small words like this are invaluable for squeezing out extra points, especially when you can hook it onto an existing word for double or triple letter scores.

I remember arguing with my cousin over this exact word. He thought AI was “too modern” to count. I just pulled out my OSPD and proved him wrong. Sometimes the two-letter words are the secret weapon, believe it or not.
