Over the past week, my wired peripherals have been acting incredibly erratic during everyday office work and gaming sessions. My standard usb keyboard keeps dropping its connection entirely for a few seconds before making the Windows hardware chime and turning back on.
I’ve already tried swapping the device to different motherboard ports, disabling selective suspend settings in the power options, and uninstalling the drivers via Device Manager, but the intermittent dropouts persist. Is this behavior a definitive sign of an internal cable short, or is there an underlying software conflict causing my USB controllers to reset?
