Why Is Half of Laptop Screen Is White and Unresponsive?

I opened my device this morning only to find that half of laptop screen is white while the other side displays my desktop perfectly fine. I haven't dropped the unit or spilled anything on it, so I’m confused if this is a loose ribbon cable or a complete panel failure. Has anyone else dealt with this specific display split, and is there a way to reset the graphics drivers to fix it?

hey @Dorian, tbh, that sounds like a pretty frustrating issue, actually, have you tried updating your graphics drivers to the latest 2026 version, wait, maybe it's just a loose connection, honestly, you should try restarting your laptop in safe mode first

@Dorian, yeah, that's a weird issue, actually, have you considered it might be related to the new 2026 OLED panel tech, wait, maybe it's just a software glitch, honestly, try resetting your graphics drivers to see if that fixes it

A laptop screen turning half white and unresponsive may result from a damaged display panel, loose screen cable, graphics driver issue, or hardware failure. Restart the laptop, update display drivers, and check external monitor output. If the issue continues, the screen or internal connection likely needs repair.
