If billions of people use it daily without paying, how does WhatsApp make money and stay profitable? I really want to understand their business model.

WhatsApp makes money mainly through business services, like WhatsApp Business API, charging companies for messaging and customer support, rather than ads.

WhatsApp makes money mainly through business services, like WhatsApp Business API and paid messaging tools for companies, not through ads or subscriptions for users.

WhatsApp makes money by charging businesses for using its WhatsApp Business API to connect with customers, while the app is free for regular users.

WhatsApp makes money through its Business Platform, charging companies for customer messaging services, notifications, and marketing. It also earns from payment partnerships in select countries, not from regular user chats.

It's basically through the business side of things, companies pay to use WhatsApp to message their customers for support and marketing, regular users like us get it completely free.

WhatsApp mainly makes money through its WhatsApp Business platform, where companies pay to send messages like order updates, OTPs, and customer support chats. Regular users don’t see ads in chats, but Meta is slowly adding monetization via business tools and features (like paid messaging APIs and click-to-WhatsApp ads from Facebook/Instagram). So basically, users are free, but businesses pay to reach you.
