I want to know how to stop Discord from opening on startup because it launches automatically every time I turn on my PC. Where is the exact setting to disable this, and what’s the quickest method to stop Discord from running on boot?

The quickest method to prevent Discord from running at startup is to use the app itself: navigate to User Settings (gear icon) > Windows Settings > switch off "Open Discord," or apply the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) > Startup tab > Discord right-click > Disable. For Mac, System Settings/Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items and get rid of Discord.

Open Discord → go to User Settings → Windows Settings → turn off “Open Discord”. That’s the simplest way and usually works immediately after a restart.

If you’re wondering how to stop Discord from opening on startup completely, also check Task Manager → Startup tab. Disable Discord there to ensure Windows doesn’t launch it at boot level.

I disabled it inside Discord, but it still opened sometimes. Turning it off in Task Manager finally fixed it for me. After that, Discord only opens when I click it.

Discord really wants to be part of your morning routine. If you truly want to know how to stop Discord from opening on startup, Windows Task Manager is where you lay down the law.

I didn’t even know apps could auto-start like that. I just went into startup apps in Windows settings and toggled Discord off—worked instantly.
