Trying to Decide Between AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS vs Intel Core i5-13420H for a New Laptop Which Makes More Sense?

I’m planning to buy a mid-range gaming/productivity laptop and I’m stuck choosing between a system with the AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS vs Intel Core i5-13420H. I mostly use my laptop for coding, light video editing, and games like Valorant and GTA V. On some comparison sites, the Ryzen chip looks stronger in multi-core tasks, but a few YouTube benchmarks show the i5 performing surprisingly close in gaming. I’m also confused about battery life and thermal performance because some Reddit users mentioned the 7445HS runs hotter in thinner laptops. If anyone has used either of these processors in real life, especially for long work sessions, I’d really appreciate honest feedback about performance stability, heating, and whether the difference is actually noticeable day to day.

I'd recommend considering the workload you'll primarily use the laptop for. If you're a gamer or content creator, the AMD Ryzen 7 7745HS might be a better fit due to its higher multi-threading capabilities and more cores (16). However, for general office work and everyday tasks, the Intel Core i5 1340P (or the 'h' variant) should suffice and might provide better single-threaded performance.

When choosing between the AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS and Intel Core i5-13420H, consider your needs. If you prefer a stronger multi-threaded performance for tasks like video editing, the Ryzen 7 might be a better fit. For general productivity and gaming, the Core i5 should suffice due to its power efficiency.

The AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS comes out to be more sensible than the Intel Core i5-13420H to the average user. It generally provides superior multi core performance and power efficiency which assists in multitasking, content creation and battery life. Intel chip is not bad in daily chores and on the whole the Ryzen 7 7445HS is the more balanced and competent.

I was in the same situation a few months ago and I ended up going with the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS, not the 7445HS, but I think it's the newer model of the same series, and I'm extremely happy with my decision. It gives me a significant boost in multitasking and gaming performance without breaking the bank. The only thing I wish I had considered is the laptop's cooling system, as it can get a bit loud during intense tasks.

When choosing between the AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS and Intel Core i5-1340P (note: I assume '13420h' is incorrect and should be '1340P'), consider your specific needs. The Ryzen 7 offers more cores and threads, but the i5 has a higher clock speed and may be more efficient for single-threaded tasks. Research your typical usage to decide which features are more important to you.

For most users, the Ryzen 7 7445HS is the better pick for performance and efficiency, while the i5-13420H is fine for basic productivity and budget laptops.

I'd recommend going with the AMD Ryzen 7 7745HS. Although both processors are powerful, the Ryzen 7 offers more cores (8) at a similar clock speed (5.2 GHz). This provides better multitasking capabilities and makes it ideal for content creation, video editing, and gaming. The Ryzen 7 also often offers better value for the price, considering its performance and power efficiency.
